Congratulations to Team GameSafe; Thomas ‘Stick’ Stilliard, Sam ‘Scone’ Smith, Craig ‘Dribbler’ Johnson and Steve ‘Coupon’ Weavis who, at 1730 today officially smashed the Guinness World Record of 32 hours 20 minutes set last September for the longest FPS video game marathon. The lads set a new record of 33 hours before shutting down and heading back to York Uni with some serious bragging rights. Ladies join the queue!
Battle commenced at 9am on Friday 12th November at i41, Newbury Racecourse. Spurred on by i41’s hardcore gamers, the Rustlers-backed war buddies were the talk of the show. Platoon leader Stick Stilliard said it was 33 hours the lads would never forget. “We really didn’t know what to expect, but the buzz you get from setting a world record of this kind is awesome. Who knows, we might even be back next year to set the bar even higher.”
Our thanks must go to Multiplay and their technical support team who worked, quite literally, tirelessly throughout to make sure the record was set.
